URGENT AID FOR GAZA

Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has been experiencing a severe humanitarian crisis and a systematic process of destruction; according to official records, more than 100,000 people have lost their lives, and it is stated that the actual number may be 2-3 times higher. The number of wounded has exceeded 200,000 and is reported to be higher. More than 45,000 of those killed were children, with child deaths accounting for more than 40% of total casualties. This shows that civilians, especially women and children, were directly targeted. UMDE aims to protect human dignity and stand by the oppressed by providing emergency aid to civilians in Gaza in the areas of shelter, food, water, hygiene, cash support and health. Despite ceasefire declarations, attacks on the ground have continued, casualties have continued to rise and no lasting security or humanitarian improvement has been achieved. With infrastructure largely destroyed, water, electricity and health services are severely disrupted, leaving Gaza dependent on long-term aid. 85-90% of the pre-war population of 2-2.2 million has been forcibly displaced, one of the highest rates in modern history. The health system has largely collapsed, hospitals are unable to provide services for long periods of time, and hundreds of thousands of wounded are struggling to survive with limited medical facilities. 70-80% of housing has been destroyed or severely damaged, with around 1 million people living in tents and temporary shelters in unsanitary conditions. More than 250,000 children, half of Gaza's population, face severe hunger, and hundreds of thousands more lack regular and adequate nutrition. As malnutrition can cause permanent physical, cognitive and emotional damage to children, nutrition support should be treated as a long-term humanitarian priority.
